Covid has forced us to adapt this year, but despite this difficult time we have accomplished much. In lieu of our Annual Harvest Festival, we would like to hold a self-guided showcase event from Saturday, October 24th from 2 pm to 4 pm .
Please stay home if you are not well. Masks and social distancing will be enforced and groups per area will be kept to a minimum.
All activities and performances celebrate our community partnerships demonstrated this year.
Join us for a ribbon cutting for our recently completed Permaculture Site at 2:30 pm. Afterwards explore and learn about the plants and their uses. This project began in 2018 and is made possible by funding from 2018 Comed Green Region Grant, 2019 Openlands Treeplanters Grant, and Country Financial.
We are expanding the garden to the former Loewenthal site. Let us know what you want to see on the lot by independently participating at our community design board. Make sure you take a photo of your design and email us or tag us on social media @elpaseogarden. Use the hashtag #elpaseolot . Please be cautious and sanitize your hands before and after. Take away maps will be provided and can be dropped off in the mailbox attached to the design board once completed.
Read a recent article by Block Club Chicago about the expansion.
Learn about the monarch butterfly and other pollinators at our interactive Kids Garden Days: Monarch Club display. We will have some hands-on activities as well. This program was completed in partnership with Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and Universidad Popular.
