Nature Play

Join us on the weekend of October 16 and 17 to explore the benefits of playing in and with nature, right in the middle of the city!

Children benefit greatly from playing outside; and natural environments provide both place and parts for deep satisfying imaginative play. Community gardens are ideal places, not only for growing food and community, but also for growing healthy playful children.

El Paseo Community Garden, with support from NeighborSpace’s West Side Nature Play Initiative, will host “nature play stations” around their site. Drop in and visit the stations, play a little, and get ideas for your own play spaces in your garden, your yard, your school, and help envision El Paseo Community Garden’s future nature play area. Now more than ever, we need to connect with each other, play with each other, and trust each other. These “natural play interventions” are a unique way to get in touch with both nature and your children.

Stations will include “Creating Adventurous Pathways”, “Noticing Nature”, “A Loose Part Nature Trading Station”, and more.

This program will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 16 and 17, from 11am- 3 pm.
