El Paseo Community Garden empowers our community through nature by creating inclusive green spaces that nurture people, protect the environment, and strengthen food access and resilience in Pilsen and beyond.
We steward over an acre of land with the support of volunteers and donations, and our site is permanently protected through NeighborSpace, Chicago’s nonprofit community land trust. Developed on a reclaimed brownfield, the garden now includes a native prairie, permaculture food forest, senior garden beds, collective raised beds, an apiary, dog run, nature play area, community stage, fitness zone, and multiple gathering spaces.
We serve Pilsen residents of all ages—especially families, seniors, and neighbors seeking access to nature, wellness, and fresh food. We envision a future where every resident can learn, heal, and thrive through accessible green space, environmental education, and community‑powered opportunities. As we grow, we aim to evolve into a social enterprise that provides training and green job pathways to steward community greenspace across the neighborhood.
