El Paseo Community Garden cultivates wellness, connection, and collective care through inclusive green space and community-powered stewardship. We organize, educate, and collaborate to protect access to nature, food, and cultural continuity in Pilsen and beyond. Through volunteer-led programming, resource sharing, and intergenerational engagement, we strengthen food access and community resilience. We empower through nature—nurturing both people and place.
We maintain over an acre of land with the invaluable support of volunteers and donations. Our community-managed greenspace is protected by the non-profit community land trust, NeighborSpace.
Our garden, developed on a reclaimed brownfield, features a native prairie, permaculture food forest, private senior garden beds, collective raised beds, and an apiary. Looking ahead, we envision expanding by half an acre, adding a dog run, nature play area, community stage, fitness zone, and more gathering spaces to enhance our offerings.
As we grow, we aim to develop into a social enterprise that advocates for green space and extends our impact beyond the garden. Our vision is to provide resources and support for the broader community, ensuring that the benefits of green space, environmental education, and community empowerment are accessible to all.
